Summary: This study has a theoretical basis in literature that discusses the school library in its daily life and its insertion in the educational unit, seeking to understand the phenomenon of the school library in its pedagogical and educational nature, from the science of Information, through an anthropological and phenomenological foundation, sought to understand the educational essence of the school library in the daily life of the educational unit, based on the philosophical and pedagogical anthropology of the philosopher and educator Edith Stein, consolidating the school library and its insertion in the educational unit, demonstrating the ontological and essential importance of the library in schools, justified with the purpose of substantiating the epistemological and anthropological character of the school library and its role in human formation, with the purpose of contributing to the development of educational and pedagogical activities in collaboration with teachers and other educational agents in the development of the teaching-learning process. The research problem aims to investigate whether the school library in the daily life of the educational unit manifests itself as a phenomenon understood in its educational meaning and/or essence for human formation. The general objective is to understand the educational essence of the school library in the daily life of the educational unit using an anthropological and phenomenological approach. The basic theoretical, bibliographical, exploratory and descriptive research methodology, with a qualitative approach, with documentary research and field research, adopted a phenomenological method approach, which proposes a reflective and theoretical attitude to observe and analyze the object of study, contributing in an academic way to the production of knowledge in information science, integrating library science and education, enabling a foundation of the school library as an integral space of the educational process, a necessary component for the school unit, in a concrete and daily praxis, for the effective exercise of its educational essence.
